DX Gaburicalibur - Blade Modification

Originally the intention is to just use the green hollow blade ONLY, but this has to be scrapped as the blade holder is way too small for holding the soft and very flexible green blade (after making it thinner)... So decided to make a blade core from a thicker ABS sheet, and the green blade to wrap over the core...

The white ABS blade core is cut smaller to have a outer rim effect, when placed inside the green blade cover...

The top of the whole blade is then sealed with hot glue and later trimmed. This will make the green blade cover to be glued to the blade core...

Here's the assembled new blade... and the length is really much better when compared to the original super short blade...

Now the DX Gaburicalibur looks so much better and more proportioned... Only in caliber mode, that is...

... and a showcase of my 3 recent blade modifications... nice... DX Engine Blade looks shorter than the other 2, but it is because of the short handle and small body to begin with...

... together with DX Gaburivolver... and yes, I spray painted most of the grey plastics to a "Bandai-silver"-like silver...

And here's the combined mode, the DX Gaburicannon.... Yeap, the lengthened blade looks very out of place... but hey, you can't get the best of both worlds... well maybe, if the balde is retractable... but then the blade contour design will be compromised... anyway...

A quick video clip of the newly modded DX Gaburicalibur...

December Purchase (6) - DX Leon Laser, KO Strium Brace

Hey, what's up, blog blands (??), Akuna Prime here, the freaking hygiene freak himself. And we have 3 new items today: DX Leon Laser, from the Tensou Sentai Goseigers series, the Knock-off Strium Brace from the Ultraman Ginga S Series, and the cheapo LEDs light sword from the ...whatever series... hahaha... heh.. So let's start with the DX Leon Laser.. And first and foremost, as usual, here's a quick look at the packaging... here's the front of the packaging... Robo Knight's big face...

... and the back of the packaging... with the usual obligatory product shots, blabba blabba... and don't forget...

... SAD PAC_MAN !!!!!! (shakes box mildly violently)...

Ok, will stop this reviewing style... Had wanted to get this DX Leon Laser long time ago, and has even consider to buy the Megaforce version... In the end, decide to give in and buy this Goseiger version, which is a much better sized toy... Except for the Saber mode, which has a very short blade... Cost about $64.15, Singapore dollars, from eBay...

Here's the DX Leon Laser being held in my hand... very comfortable to hold, just nice...

And a size comparison with the DX Break Gunner...

I got 2 of these cheesy KO Strium Braces from Taobao.com. They are the cheap KOs that has cheesy sounds (see video clip below), and missing lots of important details, eg. the big Ultraman Taro face turning gimmick... Looks very childish, but the original design is already like this to begin with... Cost about $13.25 for 2 pieces...

Wow, very narrow hand straps... sigh... The sticker does reveal the different Ultramen faces but they are different Ultramen from the legit one...

Also bought 2 cheapo "pasar malam" style LEDs swords at $7.65 approximately ... to make my DX Gaburicalibur's blade modification... which is coming up next...

December Purchase (5) - Candy(less) Toy Meteor Driver ( Kamen Rider Meteor )

Haai, Akuna Prime chan "DEBU"-desu, konichiwa, e-to... ok, speak English... Today's item to be (mini) reviewed is the Shoku(less)-gan Meteor Driver, from the Kamen Rider Fourze series. This is the Bandai-asia version, re-package as seen, and without the candy. Gotten it at Popular Bookshop in Bedok Mall today, at $7.95. I knew I will threw it away sometime, especially if I am to get the DX version, but still, I could not resist the temptation of "burning" away $7.95 and get this... There are also other items, such as the Fourze Driver, Hee-Hack Gun, the electric sword (cannot remember the name), and the Meteor fingerprint reader (also cannot remember the name)...

Here's the back of the packaging. I think it resembles the original shokugan version...

Side of the packaging...

... and NO SAD PAC-MAN !!!!!! oh wait, that is the other review style...

Haaai, so here I will open the packaging... Sei-no...

... Ohh ~ ~ Ohh ~ Ohh~~ Ohh ~~ aahh ~ chi sai desu ne... very small... very small... of course, this is based on the shokugan version, hence the small size...

... Ohh ~ ~ Ohh ~ Ohh~~ Ohh ~~ aahh ~ kira kira!!! nice shiny stickers... ~ kira ~ kira hikari ... ~~ how I wonder what you are ~ ~

*Blink of the eye and "blink" sound*   Hai, complete the assembly... very nice piece, but the stickers are way too difficult to paste nicely, especially the blue knob... anyway, will be keeping it as a display piece... To play, simply slide the top ... Ah, you should know right, it's the transformation of Kamen Rider Meteor... but for this version, you have to flip the knob down in a swift motion to spin the centre "globe"... "Woo~~ooh... Waa-charrrh !!!!!!!"

... and also bought a Hello Kitty Play-set at Kiddie Palace for my little niece...

DX Engine Blade Modifications

Finally after umpteen "years" of delay, I finally got the motivation to make a new blade for my DX Engine Blade, which is one of my earliest DX I wanted to mod. By layering 2 pieces of thicker ABS plastic sheet, a new and longer blade (core) is done... Initially wanted to make an even longer blade but it will make the handle look too small overall and not in proportion.

Used thinner ABS to make the "rims" of the blade...

As I was about to use a thinner ABS sheet to make the outer rim, I realized I had make the top of the blade core too low. In the end, the rim only stick to a little portion at the top of the blade, and had to later use hot glue to fill up the long gap, resulting in a uglier top of the blade.

The bottom side of the blade was hot glued in a similar way, with the excess rim part forced in to result in a narrower gap...

Holes are a challenge as it is not easy to drill through the ABS manually... I really mean "manually", as I only use my fingers and a pair of long nose pliers to twist the twist drill bit... and because the 2 layers of thick blade core are not able to be effectively superglued together, they tend to pop out when the drill bit reaches the other piece... luckily borrowed my dad's 6V mini drill/screwdriver to drill small pilot holes and that makes the drilling job easier... Also had to manually carve out depressions for 1 of the peg to sit in...

And very happy to see the new blade fits in nicely!!! Hahahaha... Ready to spray paint the next day!!

I use silver chrome spray paint the blade... nice...

Oh, and I decide to emulate a modder who show his/her mod in a Youtube clip, where the DX Engine Blade can be flip-close without pressing the black button originally needed. So I analyze the mechanism and realised that by removing the 2 stopper pieces (circled in yellow in the picture below), the desired feature can be done (see video clip below for demo of the flip-close feature).

With that, I fit in the new blade.... Nice!!!!! Now it looks much better as Engine Blade!!!!! Hahahahaha....

Close up view of the blade...

Though it still is much shorter, not much can be done as the DX Engine Blade's body is also originally small to begin with... So this is the best I can do... Hmmm... maybe can be better.. anyway...

With the DX Accel Driver, DX Trial Memory, and "DX" Gaia Memory Enhancement Adapter... Nice...

And here's a short clip of my modded DX Engine Blade and the flip-close feature...

December Purchase (4) - KO Lego Super Heroes : The Flash, Shazam

Hey, what's up blog friends, Akuna Prime here the freaking hygiene freak himself, and today we are going to (mini) review the Knock-Off Lego Super Heroes mini brick figures: the Flash and Shazam... So here we are, and there they are, and first and foremost, we'll take a quick look at the packagings... (in a weird voice) yaba daba... aren't they "cuuuute little things"... (normal voice) Oh, each toy costs SGD $3, purchased in a pasar malam stall...

... and at the back you have the obligatory product shots that show you the contents of toy... with some warnings and sign...

... and don't forget.. SAD PAC-MAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (shakes boxes mildly violently)... Sad Pac-Man... heh... and basically that's it, for the packaging... (throws away boxes).... (and picks the boxes back)...

... So here we have the KO Lego figurines, Shazam and the Flash out of the box... Hey hairless Shazam!!! There are a lot of waste spaces inside the big box...

... First up: The Flash! And (in a weird voice again) oh, little flash teletubby, ~say ~hello... oh so cuuuute... (normal voice) hahahahahah... perhaps this is a good way to let the grown up collectors to recollect their childhood memory... yeah, why not?... dare I say, why not...

... And all the contents of the KO Flash figurine...

... and here's a close up view of the Flash, with the other face (both sides of the head has a different face painted on it)... Nice KO... good plastic quality and joints are tight... Paint details are also good...

The Flash comes with 2 electric...whatever.. stuff that can be fitted to the hands... to simulate electric bolts... or perhaps the lightning flashes when he is speeding... To do that, first rotate his left arm to the front and left leg to the back. Then fit 1 of the lightning piece to the fist and ensure the lightning points to the back... 2nd verse same as the first, but rotate the right arm to the back and right leg to the front... and there you have it! The Flash speeds up!... Me likes, me likes...

And next, the Big Red Cheese - Shazam!!!!!! Wait... Shazam has a mustache??? Tony Stark??!!! What the h*ll.. what the h**ll... Oh, sorry, see wrongly... it's the mouth with a little chipped off paint, and I mistake it as a mustache... hahahaha... Hmmm... Shazam with a mustache... why not?... dare I say, why not..

... and all the contents of the KO Shazam figurine...

... Close up of Shazam.... Opps, the cape is shifted to the wrong side..... Quality is good...

And here's the newest lineup of my KO Lego DC Super Heroes... Nice... Me likes... me likes...

.. and eh... yeah, heh heh heh... so I think that's pretty much it for the review... and don't forget to check out my other Transformer blog... and I think that's pretty much all that has to be said.. So there they are, the KO Lego Super Heroes: The Flash and Shazam... and I'll quote a fantastic Youtube reviewer saying "You don't stop playing because you grow old; you grow old because you stop playing! Be geek, be proud. PALM IN YOUR FACE!!!!" *Salute*
