Modification : Gashapon Full Bottles - Moving Liquid Piece

Quite a simple modification, as no electronics are involved... First, disassemble the gashapon Full bottle... Take note to also remove the screw at the bottom of the twisting cap piece that comprises of 2 parts...

Used a diameter 4.5mm twist drill bit to make a hole through the cap piece...

The 2 parts of the cap piece has to be hot glued together now that the original screw joint is gone... I realized that super glue does not work quite well with this toy's material, not sure why...

Also used the same twist drill bit to trim the hole at the upper rim of the full bottle so that the pin movement will be smooth... Probably this step is optional, but, anyway...

The liquid piece consists of 2 halves and they are joined superbly tight that I cannot pry open without damaging them, hence I had to cut off the 2 pieces of 'spacers' (rectangular pieces with a notch) on both sides of the central stand...

... and slide off the liquid piece... Slightly trim the 2 cut-off 'spacer' pieces if there are a lot of sprues...

... Then hot-glue the 'spacers' back in place . This step can also be done later, after the central stand is cut into 2, as the lower half of the cut central stand also needs to be hot-glued back in place...

Mark out on the central stand piece the end point(s) of the liquid piece when slide up, DO NOT cut at the marked point.

I cut the central piece at about 5mm above the highest marked point, so that the lower part of the cut central stand will still be inside the liquid piece when the liquid piece is slide up... Recommend to cut at 4mm above point, as 5mm will leave the upper central piece a little teeny bit too short (still workable though)... Trim with file r penknife...

The top circular piece of the upper central stand half is cut off, for better range of the liquid piece movement... Trim as needed...

Next is the most tiring part... Trimming the upper central piece to around 4mm in diameter... The central piece has actually 4 long flaps extruding from the central axis to eventually form the rod-like piece. 2 of the flaps are wider and has to be trimmed (cut along the length roughly 1mm away from the edge), and then file to smooth... takes a lot of time and effort as the piece is very small and hard to hold on to when filing...

Once done, test taht the upper central piece can pass through the necessary holes, then hot glue to the correct side of the liquid piece. Keep it as centre and right-angle as possible...

Once done, assemble everything (yeap, you will have 1 unused screw now), and check the upper central piece will not protrude out the cap, i.e. flushed. For this one shown in picture, I actually added a bit of hot-glue on the tip as the piece is a teeny bit too short... Result is quite satisfying, seeing the liquid pieces move like the DX version when activated in the DX Build Driver...

March 2018 Haul (2) - SSGod Goku Kit, Friends Lego Mia Set, Pikmi Pops, Super Squishies My Little Pony and Barbie, DX Hawk Gatlinger 2nd Buy

Was a bit disappointed on my 2nd trip to Takashimaya's Collectible Toys Fair 2018 today, as there are barely any new ( tokusatsu )stuff ... Quite sad to find out that the new Ultraman figurines now no longer have the Ultra-sign at the sole... In the end, picked up a Figure Rise Super Seiyan God Goku kit to add to his birthday presents pool... Costs SGD36...

Also went up 4th storey and picked up some stuff for my little niece... could not find the MLP foam squishies though... The Friends Lego set costs SGD19.90, Pikmi Pops at SGD9.90 each, and the Super Squishies (MLP and Barbie) cost SGD10.90 for 2...

Then went over to The Falcon's Hangar which is quite near (in terms of MRT line), and got myself the DX Hawk Gatlinger for SGD25... This is my 2nd buy, as the first one I gave to my little nephew as he likes it very much... Very fun toy with the machine gun firing sounds!!! Hahahahaha...

( Takashimaya ) Collectible Toys Fair 2018... and Haul...

Went to the Collectible Toys 2018 at Takashimaya last Sunday... Had a small haul, as I wanted to control my spending (not true, real reason is I cannot find any good buys there... sigh)... Anyway, gotten this model kit for my little nephew for his birthday in June... yeap, still long, but buy first... Cost SGD39...

And also gotten him an old "vintage" Gogeta figurine...must ask him to keep this carefully, cos who knows, it may become valuable next time, hahahahaha.... Costs SGD5...

Ans gotten this Littlest Pet Shop - Pet In the City pack for my little niece... Costs SGD4...

And for myself, I gotten a DX Xlugger ( Ultraman X series)... The button for the blade extender is very tight and initially has to literally slam hard at the button to extend the blade... Tried opening the toy to attempt to fix.. Works better now but still not as smooth, despite trying to smoothen the 2 plastic (slope) activator pieces and putting in lubricating oil... not sure why... springs seem to be very oxidized... in fact the whole thing look like a factory QC reject... anyway, as long as it can work I am quite happy... especially considering it only costs SGD20...

Also grabbed a DX Beta Spark ( Ultraman X movie toy) to replace my already thrown-away KO version, hahahaha... costs only $30!!!!
