Made the following "restorations" to the bootleg:
* Activation sequence by using Progrise Key instead of pressing the yellow button. A reed switch bought in the past for the bootleg DX Taiga Spark was sued for this.
* Authorise DX Progrise Keys at the same time (the bootleg and non-DX Progrise Keys are not affected as they can self-authorise or no need authorise). A magnet is used. NEED TO CHECK FOR THE CORRECT POLE WHEN GLUING THE MAGNET TO ENSURE DX AUTHORISE BUSTER CAN BE ACTIVATED CORRECTLY TO "ZERO-ONE AUTHORISE" !!!!
* Trimming of latch peg to allow other faceplates to latch on properly
* Trimming of some springs to allow smoother operations. However, stupidly damaged the extension-spring used for the faceplate movement... Have since bought some springs from Taobao... Luckily the old one still sort of works, and quite well...
* Added mini magnets to hold the faceplate in place when retracted. Faceplate is still loose due to molding, but at least it will drop slide back slightly when shake.
* Minor trimming of sprue and touch up
Did not do the lights modification as the light-diffuse sheet is still on the way in shipping. I just covered with up temporarily.
Hi, i have purchased a bootleg driver and looking to make my own modifications too. what search terms shld i use on bili bili to find teardown of the driver, and where else can i find refernce for the driver internals? ive tried but cant find much atm and wondering if u can help
ReplyDeleteHi, you can search for words like 国产假面01改造 in Bilibili. But the best way is definitely open up the toy to see and do, just be a bit careful not to pull out the wires accidentally. You may also want to take pictures along the way before dismantling any parts so that you can refer beck when assembling them back.

ReplyDeletei got most of my stuff from Taobao. In Singapore, finding Tokusatsu stuff is not easy. Yeap, got stores, but getting lesser and lesser... not to mention the bootleg ones... sigh...

ReplyDeleteLook up post. But if you have no / little basics of electronics or soldering, will be a bit tough. But can always start toying around. No one can give you 100% hand-hold or answering everything to the details. A lot of times, you have to open up and try (at own risk though).
